The department forwards your information to the immigration authorities. Please remember to write your name on your host family's mailbox.

If you intend to stay in Germany for more than 90 days, please also fill out the “Registration at the Foreigners’ Registration Office” form and send it together with the copies of your passport to the Social Affairs Department. This information is also sent to the immigration authorities so that the residence permit can be issued.

Benefit entitlement
Refugees who have accommodation in Neuenkirchen and are unable to earn their living, rent or operating costs themselves are entitled to benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act. Persons seeking protection are reported to the immigration authorities so that proof of arrival can be sent and a residence permit can be issued in accordance with Section 24 of the Residence Act. In this case, you do not have to report to the immigration office yourself.


The entitlement to benefits includes the standard need for everyday items, the costs of accommodation and care in the event of illness. Please contact the municipality of Neuenkirchen, also by email.

Download it, fill it out and send it to the municipality of Neuenkirchen together with the documents listed, also by post or e-mail.

The benefits can be paid in cash in the municipal treasury. However, with a registered address and a passport, you also have the option of opening an account at a bank. Please contact a bank.


Own living space
As part of the benefits, the costs of accommodation and heating for your own living space are also covered, insofar as these are reasonable. For this we need the rental contract as well as a rental certificate filled out by the landlord. If you want to rent new living space, please contact the municipality of Neuenkirchen before renting the apartment to determine the reasonable costs. If a rental deposit is payable, this can be requested via the rental deposit application. Please note that the rental agreement may not be signed at this time.

You can then clarify what needs there are for the equipment of the apartment.


Work permit
A work permit is not automatic, but can be applied for at the immigration office of the district of Heidekreis.

Compulsory education
In Germany, children have to go to school for 12 years. From the age of 6 the children start school. For Ukrainian refugee children, school attendance is obligatory after registration with the immigration authorities or the residents' registration office, but no later than 3 months after entry.


Registration at the registration office / citizens' office
If you establish your habitual residence in Neuenkirchen, i.e. you are with a host family or live in your own living space, you must register with the citizens' office of the municipality of Neuenkirchen. If you have submitted an application for asylum seeker benefits, you will be registered automatically. Otherwise, please contact the Citizens’ Registration Office to make an appointment.
